Update on Events and Discounts
We were a little busy this week (!), so apologies for not updating you all on what we have going on up to the end of the season.
This week sees two fantastic events for fans to get involved with.
Firstly, we have teamed up with Whelan’s Sports Bar at the DW Stadium, to bring you a weekly Quiz Night with the first being held next Friday 31st March at 7pm.
We are delighted that Barry Worthington from the PWU Podcast will be the weekly quizmaster putting teams of maximum 4 people through their paces with questions on general knowledge, sport, music and more. The guys at Whelan’s are putting up a cash prize of £100 to the winning team.
Quiz entry is £2 per person and every week we will make a donation to the Wigan Athletic Community Trust (WACT Extra Time Programme which supports older people in the Wigan Borough.
Next Saturday 1st April v QPR we are joining forces with the WACT to celebrate ‘Believe in Communities” Day. All the great work that is done in the Wigan Community will be celebrated with activities and stalls around the South end of the Stadium. In the Supporters Bar the Extra Time Choir will be joined by St Michael’s Primary School, Howe Bridge to sing us some Latics songs from 1.30pm. We will have a prize raffle to raise funds for the community
On Good Friday, 7th April we travel to Sheffield United for the Annual WASC Weekender, which will take in a pub stop on the way to watch the match at Bramall Lane, staying over at the Crowne Plaza, Sheffield for two nights. On the Saturday we have an option for even more football, as those who want to join us travel to watch Sheffield FC, the oldest football team on the planet, as they take on Hebburn Town.
A few places are still available on the weekender if you fancy joining in. Just drop us a text on 07889 533035 if you are interested.
Finally, we are still planning the FA Cup 10th Anniversary celebrations. Of course, the Dinner sold out in minutes, but we do have plans to do a 10th Anniversary Nostalgia night on the 11th May, with some very special guests coming along. Like most Wigan fans, we can never get enough of watching the 2013 FA Cup Final, so get down to the Stadium and join in. Tickets are on sale via the WASC website. To top off an amazing weekend of celebrations, Joseph’s Goal are putting a Legends game on, at the DW Stadium on Sunday 14th May, where representatives of the FA Cup winning squad will be playing.
We have lots of plans for the new season too, but we will update you all with that nearer to the time.
