Coach operator update

This week the committee met with our coach operators for a progress update regarding the provision of travel services for our away games this season.

With Tyrers having been selected as our new coach provider for 2021/22, we have been pleased with the large amount of positive feedback received so far. This has included positive comments regarding:

• the ‘amenable and pleasant’ drivers, who are allocated to us for the season
• The high standards of comfort, particularly on the luxury executive double decker coach
• The affordable travel options, with cheaper travel now available in addition to the executive options. For example, when travelling to Wimbledon, members saved up to £14 per person on the prices quoted within other tender applications pre-season.

We also shared some feedback and suggestions from our members regarding ways that services may be improved further, and it was agreed that these will be actioned going forward:

• DVD players – all players are in full working order and WASC will provide a selection of DVDs including past Wigan games, to be stored with the coach operator and used on each journey
• USB ports on each seat will be checked to ensure they are working prior to each game
• On all return journeys, comfort stops will be kept to a minimum, especially when there are two drivers. The emphasis will be on getting back to Wigan as soon as possible.
• Pick up points between Ashton and the Stadium, we are looking into this and further feedback from travellers would be appreciated on where before a trial run is put in place.
