FA Cup loss, but a great day for Latics fans
Last weekend we bowed out of the FA Cup against Fulham, but with a screamer from Jonny Smith and a fiery second half performance, it was a positive day for Latics fans.
In the South Stand Supporters Bar, we enjoyed a special FA Cup edition of our Family Quiz, hosted by Adam Pendlebury with the winner Sue Powell scooping the prize after a tie break!
It was fantastic to welcome Mike Danson and the Wigan Athletic board to the Heritage Museum to see the work of the volunteers in setting up the Heritage Project and Museum.
Our new MD Sarah Guilfoyle took to the stage, with Barry Worthington quizzing her about the new roles at the club and her plans for the future.
Due to being cup tied Jon Mellish and Joe Hungbo were able to join us for a chat about their first days at WAFC and we welcomed representatives from the Fulham Supporters Trust who surprised our host Barry Worthington with a 66th birthday present!
The winner of the hospitality tickets in the Tomaco Lounge for today’s game was Gill Adams. Congratulations Gill!
The Official Supporters Club has two season tickets in the Tomaco Lounge for every WAFC home game that can be won by our members in the South Stand Bar!
A reminder that you can join us for a family friendly, interactive fan experience for all supporters in the South Stand Bar before home games.
Take part in the Family Quiz, visit the Heritage Museum and enjoy live interviews on stage.
All Official Supporters Club members receive 25% off all food and drink up to 90 minutes before kick off, on production of your membership card.
Coach Update
So far this season we have taken hundreds of fans to their destination of away games to watch our beloved WAFC!
With the VIP option continuing this season for longer journeys, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our stewards who work away matchdays to look after fans needs both on and off the coach!
If you have travelled with us for every game this season so far, we have saved you a minimum of £80 per person compared to any other travel provider.
Our aim is provide the most affordable, high quality executive standard travel to away games, with a VIP option for those who want this.
Past Players Irish Night
On February 1st we were delighted to attend the Irish Night in the Marquee. Irish Band “The Lash” performed traditional Irish songs plus music made popular by Irish artists including The Cranberries and Van Morrison. Over 300 people packed into the venue to dance the night away and raise funds for our WAFC Past Players.
A raffle and auction completed the evening with a range of amazing lots up for grabs including Thelo’s match worn boots and a pair of seats in the Chairman’s Lounge for a chosen match!
Over £3000 was raised on the night. Thank you to everyone who supported the event.
Heritage Project
In January we welcomed two new Heritage Officers to their roles with the Community Trust. Funded by the National Lottery Heritage grant, the officers will take the heritage displays to schools around our borough, and further the work of the project through more online exhibits such as audio recordings with past players and fans.
After the Fulham game, Heritage Team member Adam Conroy put the questions to WAFC Past Players Nathan “The Duke” Ellington and Emmerson Boyce. The lads received a warm reception in Whelan’s and stayed for photos and autographs afterwards.
A warm welcome to new heritage team member Jordan Burns. Jordan joins our group of volunteers with a wealth of experience in taking heritage and football into schools. Welcome to the team!
The Heritage website is updated weekly, with past match statistics, newspaper articles and match programmes.
